Soludo Drops Peter Obi Debt Records, N127 Billion And The Internet Is Furious
about 2 months ago
The Anambra State Government, under Governor Charles Soludo, on Wednesday released what it called the public debt records of Peter Obi's tenure as governor, claiming the Obi administration left outstanding loans, salary arrears, pensions and gratuities inherited by later governments totalling N127 billion. The Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr Law Mefor, said Soludo's government has since cleared about N22 billion in inherited gratuity arrears owed to retired state and local government workers and teachers. The records were posted on the official X handle @AnambaNewMedia.
The backlash was instant. One user, @Whiteswizzy, wrote, "Soludo is an educated illiterate. He's fighting Obi because of Tinubu. He has no evidence of his claim." Another, @cisero81, asked, "Soludo you are a Professor for goodness sakes. Could you concentrate on governance and stop this stupidity and bitterness?" And @Danhenchi raised the point nobody on that side wants to answer: "Why don't you tell us the exchange rate at the time Peter Obi was governor? Did Peter Obi spend these monies in 2026?"
This is the same Governor Soludo who promised Anambra a Dubai-Taiwan transformation. Releasing debt figures from over a decade ago while the state still struggles with basic roads tells you where the energy is going. If the records are genuine, publish the full documents with dates and exchange rates, not a curated graphic on X.
