Obi Threaten To Quit Race, Presidency Say Quit Now

Peter Obi said he would quit the 2027 presidential race if anybody could prove he left Anambra with debt, and now the Presidency is calling his bluff. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, fired the challenge on Wednesday: "Now, the Anambra government has confronted him with facts and figures showing he owed Water Corporation workers, teachers, and pension and gratuities, and had also borrowed for frivolous things. The ball is back in his court. Will he follow through on his threat by quitting the race?"

And the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Law Mefor, came out with a statement the same Wednesday, disputing Obi's account and listing the alleged liabilities: a N2 billion ecological fund, contractor debts, unpaid salaries, gratuities and pensions. So this is not small talk. Two sides, both with documents, and Obi's own mouth is now the trap he entered by himself.

I no dey support any politician blindly, but when a man makes a promise with his own mouth, we must hold him to it. Obi should either show his own records from Awka or do what he said he would do. Am I the only one that thinks this whole thing is bigger than one man's ambition?
