The NEPA Wahala Is About To Get Personal And I'm Not Ready
about 1 month ago
I saw the news this morning and my whole body just shut down. Electricity workers are threatening to shut down the entire country if the government doesn't address how soldiers allegedly assaulted one of their people. And I'm sitting here thinking, so we're about to go from 'light is unpredictable' to 'light is a luxury item'.
The thing is, I just moved into this new place and I've been telling myself the power situation will improve. That's the lie we tell ourselves every time. We buy inverters, we buy generators, we buy solar panels, and we still end up doing the candlelight dinner thing when everything fails at the same time.
My neighbor has a freezer full of fish she's been saving for a party this weekend. If this shutdown happens, she's going to lose everything. And nobody is going to compensate her. We just move on like it's normal.
How are we supposed to plan anything in this country when even the people who provide light are getting attacked and nobody cares?
