My Uber Driver Asked Me Why I No Get Car With My Salary
about 1 month ago
My Uber driver looked at me through the mirror this morning and asked, "Oga, you dey work for bank?" I said no, software. He said, "Ah, so why you no get car?"
Bruh. I just laughed. How do you explain to a man stuck in the same Third Mainland traffic as you that your remote job pays in dollars but your landlord in VI still wants ₦4.5m rent annually, your mother in Ibadan thinks you're jobless because you're always home, and NEPA has taken light three times since you entered his car? The man thinks salary equals visible assets. Correlation is not causation, my guy.
He dropped me at the office and said "make you try buy car o." I tipped him anyway. Sometimes the real flex is not explaining yourself to people who will never understand your dimension.
