Kwankwaso Wants To Bring Back Fuel Subsidy, But Who Pays For It?
Rabiu Kwankwaso sat down with Arise TV yesterday and said the NDC will bring back fuel subsidy if they win the January 2027 election. He called President Bola Tinubu's day-one removal of the subsidy a mistake that threw Nigeria into a "total mess, economically." The man even said it plain, "We're bringing back fuel subsidy in our own way. There are so many ways to do that."
I sell ankara for Balogun and I can tell you, the day petrol hit the roof, my customers stopped buying two yards and started buying one. So yes, the removal wounded us. But Kwankwaso, sir, subsidy wey we bin dey pay before, who was really collecting am? Not the poor man. So when you say you go bring am back "in your own way," my question is, in whose pocket will that money land this time?
He talk about building more refineries, and I agree with that part, because if Dangote can build one, government can build two. But talk is cheap for a man wey never smell the presidency. So let me ask una, if subsidy returns, is it the pump price that will drop or just the story that will change?
