Tinubu, Vacation, and the Cameroon Comparison Nobody Wants to Hear

Chidi Odinkalu said it plain yesterday: Tinubu cannot run Nigeria like Paul Biya runs Cameroon. The man is a law professor and former head of the National Human Rights Commission, so he is not just tweeting from his parlour. He is saying what many of us in Abuja have been whispering since this president started spending more time abroad than in Aso Rock.

I work in HR. If a staff member is constantly absent from their desk and still collecting full salary, we would query them. But here it is a whole president, and we are told to be patient. The same people who screamed about Buhari's medical trips are suddenly quiet. Make it make sense.

Some will say Odinkalu is just bitter or playing opposition politics. Fine. But ask yourself one question honestly. If Nigeria were your company and Tinubu were your employee, would you renew his contract?
