Akpabio Says No Vacancy In Aso Rock, But Who Is He Fooling?

Senate President Godswill Akpabio stood in Akwa Ibom yesterday and told Nigerians there is no vacancy in Aso Rock, insisting President Bola Tinubu is still in charge even while abroad. He said, "The president is on a working leave. So, there's no absence in Aso Rock."

But let us be honest, when the president and vice president are both outside the country at the same time, that is not a small thing. Akpabio even claimed Tinubu is working remotely, saying, "What he cannot do here, he is doing abroad." So governance is now done via internet? Which country works like that?

Akpabio says he is the only one who can declare a vacancy, and right now there is none. Fine. But if this was the previous government, would he be saying the same thing? Let us argue this, is it normal for a president to skip UNGA three years in a row and still be "in charge"?
