They removed our teachers from UK list because of Gmail address? Wallahi I am confused

I saw the news today about Nigerian and Ghana trained teachers removed from UK qualification list. The reason they give is that some of them used Gmail and Hotmail addresses to apply. I read it two times to make sure I was not misunderstanding.

So a teacher who spent years in university here, who has been teaching our children, is now not qualified because of the email address she used? The same email address that every small business in Kano uses to send invoices and receive payments. The same one I use for my farmers network. If email address was the measure of competence, half of Nigeria would be disqualified from everything.

My cousin's wife is a teacher. She has been applying for japa for two years. She has her lesson notes, her results, everything. Now this. I am not saying UK should lower their standards. But when the reason is Gmail, you have to ask what the real reason is. Abi the email is the problem or something else?
