Atiku Names El-Rufai Campaign Deputy While He Sits In ICPC Custody

Atiku Abubakar has appointed Nasir El-Rufai as Deputy Chairman of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council for 2027, and the man is still in ICPC custody as we speak. Kashim Ibrahim-Imam is the Chairman, Senator Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu is Director-General and Campaign Manager, and El-Rufai will handle high-level political coordination and stakeholder engagement across the country.

He is also facing a separate case filed by the Department of State Services over allegations relating to interception of communications involving National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. So the deputy chairman of a presidential campaign is dealing with ICPC detention and a DSS case at the same time. In Abuja we say this is audacity on another level.

It tells you everything about how 2027 is shaping up. Competence, controversy, court cases, none of it disqualifies anybody anymore. The question is whether this is political strategy or just plain desperation.
