Soludo, Peter Obi, and the Wound That Won't Heal
about 1 month ago
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has dragged Peter Obi into the national conversation again, and I am beginning to wonder if the Anambra governor understands what he is actually doing to himself. Back in 2023, Soludo told Nigerians that Peter Obi was overrated, that he exaggerated his governance record in Anambra, and he threw a litany of accusations across key sectors of the state's economy. He then supported Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who won the election and is today seeking renewal under the Renewed Hope agenda.
But here is the question nobody in APGA wants to answer: did Soludo win his ward, his polling unit, his local government, or even Anambra State for Tinubu? The records are there for verification. The man who rode into Government House on the back of Peter Obi's legacy, who once said in a viral video that the people gave him the mandate based on Obi's performance, is now the same man trying to bury that same legacy.
For Ndi Anambra, this is not just politics. It is a wound that keeps reopening. Soludo shares the same political parentage under APGA, the party birthed by Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, the same party that produced Peter Obi as its flag-bearer. So when Soludo attacks Obi, he is not just attacking a man. He is attacking the foundation that made his own governorship possible. Be honest with me: is Soludo inadvertently working for Peter Obi by keeping his name alive, or is he simply settling an old score that nobody asked him to settle?
