Okpebholo Says Nigerians Are Enjoying Fuel At N1,000 While England Pays N3,000

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has stirred serious controversy after claiming that Nigerians are enjoying the current pump price of fuel because a litre costs about N3,000 in England after conversion.

Speaking on Thursday at the Operation Rescue Benin-Asaba Road event, Okpebholo said, "I was in London last week. I went to buy fuel with my friend just to know the cost of fuel between Nigeria and England. Let me tell you, after conversion, it's about N3,000 per litre. We are enjoying here. The president is stabilising the economy. He is an economist."

He also added that "our president is not a supermarket man. Let supermarket people wait for their time to rule Nigeria." The question many Nigerians are asking is simple. Enjoying with which salary? Because the same litre that sells for over N1,000 in Benin City is competing with food on the table.
