Anambra releases document, N363 million in unpaid salaries from Peter Obi's time
about 1 month ago
The Anambra State Government has dropped a document today showing N363.381 million approved as second tranche of salary arrears owed workers, pensioners and families of the dead from the defunct Anambra State Water Corporation and the Environmental Protection Agency, money the state says was left hanging during Peter Obi's eight years as governor.
The document is dated May 24, 2025, signed by the then Head of Service, Dame Theodora Okwy Igwegbe, and addressed to Governor Chukwuma Soludo. In it she wrote that the second tranche of Three Hundred and Sixty-Three Million, Three Hundred and Eighty-One Thousand Naira only is due for disbursement in line with the Terms of Settlement signed on 6th February 2024.
The New Media Office posted it on X with the caption, "PART 3: EVIDENCE THAT LYING IS IN PETER OBI'S DNA." They added that Soludo has now paid both the first and second tranches, and that Peter Obi knows they know he is lying. This came one day after Peter Obi sat on Arise Television and denied borrowing money from any bank.
So the question that nobody in Awka or Onitsha is asking loudly enough: if the settlement was signed in February 2024 and the first tranche was paid, why is this document only surfacing now, one day after the man's television interview? Evidence released as a weapon is still evidence, but timing is a language of its own. Peter Obi has not responded to this specific document as at this hour.
