Why Kano women no dey shout when dem carry money

My friend call me yesterday from Lagos, she say Amina how you dey do am, you carry your own money, you no dey make noise. I laugh. I tell her say na the money we dey count, not the mouth.

I see am for market last week. Two women dey argue over who go pay for the tomatoes. One dey shout, everybody dey look. The other one just open her purse quiet quiet, pay the woman, carry her bag waka. Na she get the respect. The one wey shout, nobody remember her name.

Northern women we no dey loud. We just dey work. My grandmother sell kola for Sabon Gari for 40 years, she build house, she train seven children. Nobody write book about her.
