This man picked me up for Lekki Phase 1, we haven't even crossed the toll and he's already turning to me saying "abeg give me 5 stars before we reach, network dey bad for your area." I'm looking at him like, sir, I haven't even seen your driving yet.

Then he starts narrating his own life. How he left banking to do Uber because "office politics too much." How his wife thinks he's wasting his degree. How he's been praying for a passenger like me who "looks like somebody wey understand." Meanwhile the fuel gauge is on red and he's still doing 40km inside a 60 zone.

We finally reach and he parks, turns around, hands me his phone. I gave him the 5. Not because the drive was smooth but because the man needed it more than I needed to be right. Shey that's how we dey do for Lagos?
