That Red Palm Oil You're Eating Might Be Killing You Slowly

I was in the market last week Saturday, just buying small small things for the house, when I saw this woman selling palm oil. The colour was too red. Red like danger sign. I stopped and looked at it well, and I remembered a case that came before my court years back.

A family came to complain about a food vendor. The man had been selling pepper soup for years in Ikeja, and one day three people collapsed after eating from his pot. Investigation showed the pepper he used was coloured with dye meant for textiles. The man didn't even know. He bought from a wholesaler who was cutting corners. But the law doesn't care about your ignorance when people's health is involved. Section 242 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State is clear on this.

So when I saw that red red palm oil in the market, I just walked away. We need to ask questions. Where did this oil come from? Why is it so red? Is it even real palm oil? Because the law can only punish after the damage is done. Your kidney is not a court. It does not give second chances.
