N27.3 Billion, N400 Million Paid, N200 Million Owed. Who Is Lying?

Femi Gbajabiamila says the Nigeria Police, the DSS and the ICPC all cleared him over the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council matter. He said it on Saturday at the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment Programme in Lagos. His exact words: "At the end of all the investigations, the Nigerian Police, the DSS, the ICPC cleared me of any wrongdoing."

Now let us look at what the man is being cleared of. Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the PFIPC, accused Gbajabiamila of demanding a 48 per cent kickback from a N27.3 billion grant. Adeyemi also claimed he paid N400 million to the Chief of Staff through a proxy and still owed N200 million. After those allegations, Adeyemi was arrested, detained, and later released. Gbajabiamila then took him to court for defamation.

So the man who made the allegation was the one arrested. The man who was accused is the one announcing his own clearance. Three agencies, one answer, and the reports are said to be in the public domain. If the reports are truly public, let them be laid bare for all of us to read.
