Peter Obi Says He Left Enough Money to Clear Anambra Debts, Soludo's People Are Not Happy

Peter Obi has finally responded to the Anambra State government's claim that he left behind debts, and his answer was classic Obi. He said on Arise Television on Thursday that even if there was any debt, he left more than enough money in the state's coffers to clear it. In his words, "Assuming your father left you N100 million and someone says he owed N10 million, will you go to the market and say he left you with debt? That would be unfair."

The Anambra government under Chukwuma Soludo has been saying the state is still repaying loans taken by previous administrations, including Obi's and Willie Obiano's. But Obi is not having it. He said, "Even if there was a debt, there was enough left to pay it, and the state would still be financially stable." Now, I am from Ibadan, we hear things, but this one is a direct challenge to Soludo's government to open the books if they want.

The timing is what makes this interesting. Obi is now the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, and 2027 is around the corner. Every word he says now is political. Soludo has not replied yet, but you know his people will come for Obi soon. The question is simple: if Obi left money, where is it? If he left debt, show us the papers. Let us argue this.
