Atiku Abubakar has openly questioned why President Bola Tinubu is still in Paris after his official three-week vacation expired. The President left Nigeria on 30 August, and by today that is 28 days away from home, 7 days past the constitutional limit.

Atiku's media aide cited Section 145(2) of the Constitution, saying if the President fails to transmit a written declaration within 21 days, the National Assembly can mandate the Vice-President to act. He asked the direct question: "So where is the letter? If it was transmitted, let the Presidency, Senate President or Speaker publish it." He also pointed out that former President Muhammadu Buhari transferred power to Yemi Osinbajo five times through formal Section 145 communications.

Now, I am not an Atiku supporter, but the man has a point here. The Constitution is not a suggestion. If the President is on vacation past 21 days, the law says one thing and one thing only. So why is nobody talking about the letter? Is it that they are scared of Shettima holding the seat? Be honest, if it was your state governor away for 28 days without a letter, would you keep quiet?
