My uncle sold the same plot of land to three of us and still came to eat rice at my mother's burial

Three years ago I put ₦4.2m into a plot in Akure. My whole consulting savings. My uncle Chinedu was the one who showed me the land, said it was family land, said he would handle the papers. I trusted him because he is my mother's brother.

Last month I drove down to check on the land. There was a fence on it. A bungalow foundation. Another man's name on the gate. I called my uncle. He said 'Deji calm down, we will sort it.' Two other buyers, same plot, same uncle. One of them had paid ₦5m cash in 2023.

My mother cried when she heard. She said 'Deji, please, let it go, he is my only brother.' So I let it go. He came to her birthday last week and ate jollof rice with both hands. I sat there and watched him and said nothing. That is the part that still follows me home.
