Nigeria Signed The US Health Deal Ghana Rejected. Why?

Ghana looked at the American health agreement and said no. Nigeria looked at the same paper and signed. That is the fact Sahara Reporters put on my screen yesterday, and I have not been able to put it down since.

The report alleges that the deal demands access to our citizens' medical records and bars Nigerian inspectors from checking drugs coming in under the arrangement. If that is true, then we have handed over both the patient and the pharmacy. Ghana, our neighbour, saw the same terms and walked away.

Who benefits? Not the woman in Ibadan buying paracetamol with her last two thousand naira. Not the nurse in Maiduguri counting gloves. Somewhere between Abuja and Washington, somebody signed a paper that profits a few and exposes millions. So I ask directly: who signed this on Nigeria's behalf, and what did they get in return?
