The woman we called Mama Trust carried our one year savings and vanished
about 1 month ago
The cooperative was 20 of us market women. Every Friday we drop our money with the treasurer. We call her Mama Trust. Small small, one year go pass. My turn reach to collect.
I reach her shop that morning. Empty. Neighbour say she pack her things since night. Chai!
Half the money gone. My own contribution for one full year. Money I was saving to pay my second daughter school fees. I sat down for ground, I no even cry. My body just cold.
Some women start to shout, some begin to cry. One woman faint. Na so life be. The person you trust pass na him go do you the worst thing.
We report for police, nothing come out of it. She just disappear like that.
That year I learn: no put your money where you no fit see am. Even if na your sister. God rest the ones wey don suffer this kind thing.
