My aunt in Kaduna returned my aso-ebi money in an envelope and I still don't know what it means

There was a wedding in the family last month, cousin on my mother's side. My aunt in Kaduna called me herself and said I must sew the aso-ebi, that it is family, that she does not want to hear any excuse. The fabric was ₦45,000 for the material alone. Then tailoring. Then shoes to match. Then the gele. By the time I added transport to Kaduna and back, plus the gift envelope for the couple, I had spent close to ₦180,000 on one Saturday.

I did not complain. I wore the lace, I danced, I took the pictures. But last week a small envelope arrived through my younger brother with my name on it. Inside was ₦50,000 and no note. Just cash, folded neat. My aunt has never done this before in her life. I called her and she said "you people in Abuja should not kill yourselves for family." Then she changed the subject to my daughter's school.

I have been turning it over since Tuesday. Is it an apology? Is it her saying she noticed? Or is it her way of telling me the money I spent was too much and she is embarrassed. Wallahi I still don't know. Have you ever received money back from a relative and could not read the meaning?
