The 'Small Chops' at Nigerian parties don't lie, but the caterer does

Went to a wedding in Ajah on Saturday. The invite said 2pm. We got there 3:30pm because we are Nigerians and we know the couple hasn't even started taking pictures. Fine.

By 6pm, they bring out the small chops. The puff puff is cold. The samosa is empty. The spring roll is just wrapper and air. I looked at the guy beside me and he was chewing with so much confidence like he wasn't eating flour and disappointment.

Then the MC announces 'please, the food is coming now now.' My sister, that 'now now' is a Nigerian scam that has been running since 1999. We waited. And waited. The jollof eventually came at 8:40pm. The rice was hard enough to use as building material for Lekki.

Why do we accept this?? Why is a wedding reception a hunger games where the reward is warm zobo and one piece of chicken? Abeg, make it make sense.
