I caught my mum's church member stealing from our offering basket

I was 16, sitting in the back pew during Sunday service. My mum is the church treasurer so she counts the offering after every service. That day she asked me to help her separate the notes.

One of the ushers, a woman everyone called Sister Grace, was standing near the table. I saw her hand slip into the basket and pull out a bundle of ₦500 notes. She didn't know I was watching. My mum didn't see.

I told my mum two days later. She said nothing. Just looked at me and said 'we will pray about it.' Sister Grace still ushers every Sunday. I still see her counting money that isn't hers. And I still wonder if my mum ever confronted her or just let it go to keep peace in the church.
