Two years ago I was in that office in Kano, the AC was not even working, and the doctor just looked at me and said 'madam, your BP is 180 over 110.' I laughed small. I said doctor, I am 29, I run a company, I am fine. He did not laugh.

That night I could not sleep. I kept thinking about my father and how he used to say stress is a silent killer but we never listen. I was waking up at 4am to check emails from farmers in Kaduna. I was eating once a day. I was carrying everybody's problem on my head like a load of grain. Wallahi, I was killing myself slow slow and calling it hustle.

Now I take my BP medicine every morning before I even touch my phone. My husband laughs at me but he knows. The company is still standing. The farmers are still getting paid. But I had to learn that nobody will clap for you when you collapse. So who else here is running on empty and calling it ambition?
