Police Drag Okorocha From Abuja Hotel After Skipping Two Invitations

Rochas Okorocha, former Imo State governor and ex-Senator for Imo West, was arrested on Monday night, October 12, at the REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja. The arrest was over alleged criminal conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation, according to security sources who spoke to SaharaReporters.

What stands out is that the police did not just pick him up. They secured a bench warrant first. A source said an initial invitation was fixed for September 2, 2026, and his legal team got it moved to September 8. He still did not show up. So the court order became the only way to compel him.

He was still in custody as of the report, and his media office did not respond to requests for comment. If a man who has governed a state and sat in the Senate can treat police invitations like an inconvenience, what does that say about the rest of us who get summoned?
