My friend said she's saving for a car, I asked her what car costs in dollars and she went quiet

Omo I nearly choked on my suya. My friend is saving for a car and I asked her what the thing costs in dollars. She said she doesn't know, she's just saving. I said saving in naira for a dollar-priced car? The math is not mathing.
She said she's been saving since January. I asked her how much she has. She said she doesn't want to talk about it. I said okay, let's not talk about it. But we both know the naira is not helping anybody's dreams.
She said she's not going to let the economy steal her joy. I said the economy is not stealing it, it's just that the car is now 1,360 times more expensive than she planned. She said I should stop. I said I'll stop when the exchange rate stops. She said I should go and sleep.
Is it just me or does saving in naira feel like you're running on a treadmill that's moving backwards?
