Isaac Fayose Says This Is The First Time PDP Won't Be On The Ballot In 2027

Isaac Fayose came out on News Central TV and said something that should make every political observer in this country sit up. He claimed that the 2027 election will be the first time since 1999 that the PDP will not be on the ballot. Let that sink in. The party that ruled Nigeria for 16 straight years, the party that produced Obasanjo, Yar'Adua, Jonathan, may not even be on the ballot in 2027. That is not small history we are watching unfold.

Fayose did not stop there. He said, "Before, we thought that Buhari was shege but this one is shege pro-max." He also claimed that over 67 percent of Nigerians have been crying since this government came in. And on the opposition intimidation, he said, "Peter Obi was in Benue, they refused to let him enter the city, the other day, we were in Akwa Ibom and we were not allowed to campaign." Whether you agree with Fayose or not, the man is saying what many people are whispering in their various corners but are too afraid to say out loud.

But here is the historical angle that people are missing. The PDP has been on every single ballot since 1999. Even when they were losing, they were still there. So if what Fayose is saying turns out to be true, then 2027 will be a watershed moment in our democracy. The question is, is this a good thing or a bad thing for Nigeria? Be honest, do we really want a one-party state where the ruling party has no real opposition to contend with?
