My husband found the bank account I opened 6 years ago and the silence in our room was louder than any fight

Six years ago I opened GTBank account in my mother's name. Every month I send small small from my business. Not because I planned to leave. Because I watched my mother beg my father for money one time and I said I will never be that woman.

Last week my husband was looking for our son's school receipt inside my bag. He found the debit card. The name on it was my mother's. He just stood there holding it. He asked me one question. How much. I told him the truth. He went to bed. Next morning he ate breakfast like nothing happened.

Wallahi that silence nearly killed me. He is not a jealous man. But I saw something in his eyes I cannot forget. He did not ask why. He already knew why. Now I dey wonder if protecting myself was worth the distance between us.
