I spent ₦12,000 on a course that taught me more than my entire 300L semester

My guy sent me a link to this Coursera specialization in data analysis, and I was like, 'oga, with what money?' He said it's $9 per month. I checked the rate, that's like ₦12,240. My feeding money for the week is ₦17,500. I swear I almost closed the page.

But I did the math. One semester of UNN tuition is not cheap, and I'm here learning theories from 1985 while the world is moving. So I paid. And in three weeks, I've built two dashboards and a small portfolio. My lecturer is still dictating notes from a textbook that was published before I was born.

It's not that the certificate is useless. It's that we are paying for a system that is not preparing us. I'm not waiting for ASUU to fix anything. I'm using my small data to build something that can actually pay me in dollars one day. The ₦12,240 pain is real, but so is the hope. Who else is doing this side hustle while schooling?
